Helpful tips for those new to Zoom and how to access the pre-recorded presentations:

Registration Process

  1. Register for the presentation(s) you want to view by clicking on the link(s) provided below.

  2. Once registered, a link will be included within a confirmation email from EZregister.

  3. When you are ready to view the pre-recorded presentations from our Extension Specialists, first log into your Zoom account ( if login is required).

  4. Lastly, copy and paste the link into a new browser window to access the presentation. Or click on the link found within your confirmation email from EZregister.

Zoom Account Creation

  1. On your computer, laptop or cell phone, visit the Zoom website.

  2. Click on the orange Sign up, It's Free button, found on the upper right-hand corner. Follow the instructions to set up and activate a new Zoom account.

    This presentation provides an overview of potential diseases and abiotic disorders in chile pepper and how to manage them. Note: This presentation may require logging into Microsoft Office and not Zoom.
  • Tree Selection & Care: Avoiding Probable Pests and Disasters (Zoom) - Dr. Marisa Thompson
    This presentation will provide a general overview of how best to select trees for your growing area and go into further discussion on how to best avoid probable NM pests and disasters. Duration: 36:31.
  • 2020 Insect Update from NMSU! (Zoom) - Dr. Carol Sutherland
    Highlights for 2020 included white-fringed beetles, blister beetles, pecan weevil and grape phylloxera, murder hornets and assorted landscape pests and wood borers. The latter could surge in importance as the toll of landscape plants impacted by heat and drought increases. Our latest exotic annoyance, elm seed bug, is introduced. Duration: 57:32.
  • Introduction to Integrated Pest Management (Zoom) - Dr. Amanda Skidmore
    This presentation provides an introduction to integrated pest management and ways to manage and control pests with options other than a pesticide only approach. Duration: 55:18.
  • Assessment-Based Prevention, Control & Management of Vertebrate Pests in NM (Zoom) - Dr. Sam Smallidge
    This presentation provides introductory material on wildlife damage management with further discussion on prevention, control and overall management of vertebrate pests commonly found in New Mexico. Duration: 1:02:48.

  • Principles of Herbicides] (Zoom) - Dr. Leslie Beck
    This presentation provides an overview of herbicides, how they work, what they do, etc. It is intended for those that are not licensed but will be taking the NMDA pesticide licensing exam. Duration: 59:36.
  • Basic Entomology, Ornamentals, and Turf, Category 3A, Part 1 (Zoom) - Dr. Carol Sutherland
    Using the NMDA study guide for Category 3A, Integrated Pest Management is defined and examples of "tools" are given. Viewers are introduced to insects and mites and provided examples of 3 types of development and two types of mouthparts. Ten common arthropods associated with turf are shown and briefly discussed. Duration: 46:59.
  • Basic Entomology, Ornamentals, and Turf, Category 3A, Part 2 (Zoom) - Dr. Carol Sutherland
    Using the NMDA study guide for Category 3A, the program continues with a mention of the basics of plant pathology before 10 common arthropod pests of ornamentals are illustrated. Notes on hosts, life cycles and their impacts on landscape plants are discussed. Duration: 49:03.
  • Pesticide Equipment Calibration (Zoom) - Dr. Matteo Serena
    This presentation will provide a short overview of pesticide equipment calibration and discuss what is needed for calibration. Duration: 11:12.
  • New Mexico Pesticide Laws and Regulations (Zoom) - Dr. Matteo Serena
    This presentation will describe the New Mexico Pesticide Laws and Regulations needed to be known prior to taking the NMDA Pesticide License exam. Duration: 30:46.
  • Pesticide Safety and Labeling - Part 1 and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Part 2 (Zoom) - Dr. Matteo Serena
    Part 1 of this presentation will describe the management of pests, what is a pesticide and pesticide labels and formulations as well as effects of pesticides due to chemical exposure. Part 2 of this presentation will cover personal protective equipment needed when working with pesticides. Duration: 1:10:16.
